You’ve met our captain and mates in Part 1. Now let us introduce our creatives, operations and business crews that lead and accomplish MIRL’s objectives!

Creative Lead — Joey

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Joey, and I’m heading the branding and creative direction for MIRL. Believe it or not, I started out in the retail and e-commerce space. I taught myself design and marketing after being thrown into it at work with no guidance. I found myself in charge of social media, our e-commerce store, our physical retail stores’ visual merchandising. Basically, a circumstantial Creative Director of sorts. Then, 2 years ago I co-founded and bootstrapped a personal finance startup, Sav finance. I also joined the Unstoppable Domains community team. On the side, I freelance, build websites and manage social media accounts for all sorts of cool local businesses while consulting for NFT and blockchain projects.

My hobby is playing RPGs… I’m currently playing Pokemon Arceus on my Switch.

My goal in life is to disrupt at least 1 hierarchical industry — my next goal is advertising and marketing. I think insurance is another good one and I’d like to think Sav Finance did leave some sort of a mark there.

My current (it changes) role model is Rihanna because

  • She’s a slashie like me: Musician / Entrepreneur / Ambassador / National HERO
  • She is a disruptor too — She ended the VS Show with Savage Fenty

How did you get into NFTs?

I joined Unstoppable Domains, which build and sell blockchain-based domain names (which are also NFTs) completely by chance, and that was my rabbit-hole journey into the world of NFTs. Since then I’ve gotten introduced to and partnered with so many cool projects

What got you excited about MIRL?

First of all, I’ve always been into fashion — I was also drawn by the supportive nature of the DAO, which extends out to all creatives and not just fashion designers. The reality is that all businesses and individuals become better through collaboration across different industries and “genres”, and I always love to see that materialising.

What is your most memorable moment in building MIRL so far?

Everyday when we come together for our daily meetings, it’s truly inspiring to see everyone slowly working together to piece a puzzle, and how passionate every one of the team member is about the project.

Deadheads — I love anything Halloween themed and I like that they are venturing into an animated series / the copyright domain. I don’t own one but i did pick up a couple skull troopers.

Partnership Lead— Angeline

Tell us about yourself

My name is Angeline Wong and I am an Indonesian Chinese that has been invested into the Singapore’s culture since young. I graduated in Supply Chain degree and have been working in the Freight Forwarding industry for almost 6 years. My hobby and interests lies in exploring new adventures/ideas and also travelling around the world with my loved ones. My role model is Oprah Winfrey as she is one of the humblest female leader that contributes and gives back to society.

How did you get into NFTs?

I found NFT to be an extremely interesting topic, the next “in thing” after cryptocurrency, and decided to delve into it, especially since we all had so much free time during the covid stay at home period.

What got you excited about MIRL?

I really liked the road map that the founding team has created for MIRL. Being the pioneers in fashion NFT world and providing physical merchandise to real life! Excited to be part of this.

What is your most memorable moment in building MIRL so far?

The Imaginary Ones!

Community Lead — Bernard

Tell us about yourself

My name is Bernard. My interest is in startups and entrepreneurship. Since young, I saw how my father ran his business and I was inspired to be a boss. I started a few mini business ventures from selling home bake cheesecakes back in secondary school to selling apparels on Carousell and eventually selling merchandise in School’s booth. Following that, in 2019, I started a marketing agency selling Ads services mainly (FB/IG and Google Ads). And in 2020, I started my own marketplace on Lazada, Shopee, Qoo10 to distribute and sell beauty products.

I do wish to pursue my own startup in the future because I like the challenge and excitement that comes withthe journey.

Doing my free time, I love to work out! I think it’s a good way to relieve stress and to clear up my mind! I think it

How did you get into NFTs?

I was first introduced to NFTs around late 2021s through a common friend. Back then I was only into Cryptocurrency and was trading it on a weekly basis.

In 2021, a couple of my friends encouraged me to look at NFTs and heeded their advice. I eventually tried getting Whitelists for projects to learn the process as well as to mint the project.

After my first few NFT projects, I became more excited and curious about NFT projects. I was intrigued to find out how NFT’s projects are valued and how projects like CyberPunks and BAYC get to where they are today. Just like that my interest grew and this is how my NFT journey started.

What got you excited about MIRL?

The thing that got me excited about MIRL is a creative DAO where everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute and collaborate with big brands. Sometimes it may be hard for the younger/newer people to stand out in the industry as it is portfolio-based. Having this DAO will allow everyone to have equal opportunity.

What is your most memorable moment in building MIRL so far?

The memorable part is seeing our community grow organically. We grew our Discord numbers from 1 to 6,000 and Twitter from 1 to 10,000 with a combination of WL giveaways as well as competitions and contests.

Another memorable moment is seeing established brands wanting to work with us. This gives us a morale booster as it gives us validity for our concept and idea.

Tell us about your favourite NFT artist/project

One of my favourite projects got to be the prime planet ape collection. I really like the details of the Ape where each ape is drawn with high resolution and there are distinct and clear features with each individual apes.

Another project I like is Azuki. I am always fascinated with anime/manga drawings because I always feel that the artists are very detailed in their drawings and all the small details like shadows, fades etc. I thought that Azuki NFT was well designed and developed.

Story Teller — Daryl

Tell us about yourself

I’m a Web2 marketer by day, Crypto writer by night. I am really interested in the development of new crypto communities and using marketing to drive project growth. Outside of work I enjoy boxing, going to the gym and reading some good books.

How did you get into NFTs?

I bought some Terrapins off the secondary market in the Terra ecosystem, as I have been fond of turtles and liked the art. While that didn’t go so well financially, it served as my first foray into NFTs, learning about their roadmaps, utilities and communities.

What got you excited about MIRL?

I have been interested in fashion since I was young, and have even dreamed of having my own fashion brand. To hear about the vision of MIRL bridging NFTs and fashion, as well as owning a piece of this decentralised fashion brand is definitely very exciting for me.

Tell us about your favourite NFT artist/project

I’m quite a fan of the art and vision of Midnight Breeze, it is totally a piece of art that I would be in real life too. Not to mention their community and interior design metaverse are interesting future developments too.
